How to request an inspection

A building inspection is an extensive inspection by a qualified inspector. It covers all major systems, including foundation, plumbing, electrical, roof, heating, and air conditioning. 

Cloudpermit provides applicants and municipal building authorities with the Inspections feature, accessible from the application. The feature allows applicants to request required inspections for the application and choose a date and time for them. Authorities can monitor all inspections in Cloudpermit. 

Municipalities will decide which inspections are required for specific application types. Because Cloudpermit has these inspections preconfigured, it can be sure that applicants will always ask for the proper inspections for their projects. Municipal authorities may also elect to conduct further project inspections, such as partial occupancy. 

Usually, the inspection request comes up during the project's work and construction phases. Applicants have a list of required inspections in the application's Inspection section. They may decide on the date and time for the inspection before requesting it. Municipal authorities will monitor these inspection requests and dispatch them to qualified inspectors.

  1. Click Work & Construction workspace. Scroll down to the Inspections section. All required inspections for the project are listed in this view.
  2. Select the inspection and click Request inspection.
  3. Choose the inspection's date and timeslot. Type additional information for an Inspector (optional). Click Create Inspection Request.
  4. The inspection request has been moved to the municipality's building department to wait to be dispatched to a qualified Inspector. The assigned Inspector will confirm the request and start conducting the inspection on-site.
