Building 101: Email Communications

Cloudpermit automatically sends email notifications to keep you informed throughout the building permitting process. By default, email notifications are enabled, but you can disable them in your application's workspace header if desired. 

This article outlines the various situations in which you will receive email notifications.

Email Notifications Triggers:

  1. Draft Application Actions:
    • You will receive an email notification if you delete your draft application.
  2. Application Submission:
    • An email notification will be sent when you submit your application.
  3. Withdrawal Requests:
    • If you request a withdrawal for a submitted application, you will receive an email notification.
    • You will also be notified when your withdrawal request is accepted, and the application is withdrawn.
  4. Collaboration Invitations:
    • You'll receive email notifications when invited to collaborate in another application workspace.
  5. Application Progress:
    • Email notifications will inform you when your application progresses to the "In review" step.
    • Notifications are sent when your application moves to the circulation process.
    • You'll be informed if your municipal building department requires changes to your application.
  6. Financial Notifications:
    • Email notifications are sent when your municipal building department includes a fee payment requirement in your application.
    • You will be notified when your application reaches the "Ready to issue" step.
  7. Permit Sign-Off and Issuance:
    • Notifications will be sent when your permit is waiting for sign-off.
    • You'll be informed when your permit has been issued.
  8. Inspection Updates:
    • Email notifications are sent when new inspections are added or removed from your application.
    • You'll be informed when an inspection visit is completed or an order is issued during an on-site inspection.
  9. Occupancy and Completion:
    • Notifications are sent when you are eligible to apply for partial occupancy.
    • You will be informed when your application's status changes to "Occupied."
    • Notifications are sent when your application progresses to the "Finished" step.
  10. Permit Expiry:
    • Email notifications will remind you when your building permit is about to expire.
  11. Messages in Application Workspace:
    • You will receive email notifications if you have unread messages in your application workspace. Access the "Message" feature via the "Show messages" link in the application workspace header.
