How to create a case without a complaint

By-law enforcement officers can create a new case directly from their Dashboard without a complaint. The By-law enforcement section in the Dashboard has a link to the Complaint and new cases view where by-law enforcement officers can fully manage their complaints and create new ones. 

This article describes how to create a case without a complaint in Cloudpermit.

  1. Click Create a New Case under By-law enforcement in your Dashboard.
  2. You will enter the Complaint and new cases view.

Searching for properties by address, roll number, or PID/PIN

  1. Search the property by address, roll number, or PID/PIN by typing either in the search field. 
  2. Click the desired address under Addresses.
  3. The new complaint card opens on the right.

Searching for properties on the map

 You can also click and drag on the map to find the property. 

  1. Click the property on the map.
  2. The search field displays the property address at the top of the view.
  3. The property is shown on the map.

Filling out the complaint card

  1. Select the category. The selection is municipality-based.
  2. Fill out the required (*) fields on the complaint card:
    1. Description
    2. Complainant address
    3. Complainant's phone
  3. Select the method the complaint is received.
  4. Enable the switch Response requested if the complainant wishes so.
  5. Click Submit.

Creating a case

  1. If the property has existing complaints, they are listed on the top of the view.
  2. Select the check box "Include existing complaints" if needed.
  3. Select the complaint linked to this case by checking Add a case.
  4. Click Create Case.

  5. Select the priority.
  6. Select the category type from the Category drop-down menu.
  7. Enter a description of the case.
  8. Click Create. 
  9. Cloudpermit automatically generates a scheduled inspection for the case. You can change the date and time, assign it to an available inspector immediately or modify the request later in the By-law enforcement case workspace (click Close.)
  10. Change the values and click Open the New Case.
  11. You will enter the By-law enforcement case workspace to start working on the case.
